Sculptural Installation
Invisible Labor
These oversized bricks date back to the early 1800s. Hand-formed by enslaved Africans and their ancestors at the Hermitage plantation in Savannah Georgia. The bricks are used in various architectural order throughout the city. Over 60 million Bricks were formed by the hands of enslaved Africans.
This work looks at our relationship to labor. To be present yet absent. Invisible, visible labor.
